Ecology

At VANK, we aim at reducing the amount of natural resources used in the manufacturing process, limit the amount of waste generated, and increase the use of biodegradable, renewable, and recyclable materials.  The natural material we use as the finish to our acoustic solutions and modular systems is a biocomposite based on fibrous plants, with excellent sound insulation and absorption properties.

Wood is also an organic renewable resource that absorbs carbon dioxide during the growth process. The seats of our chairs are made, for example, of chips of wood, which minimises the loss of this natural resource in the manufacturing process. The tops of office tables, desks, and coffee tables are made of wood-based, eco-friendly SWISSCDF board. The plywood and veneer used for chairs are also wood-based products. Our suppliers are certified with FSC, who makes sure that wood-based resources are acquired in a sustainable manner.

Making use of recycled instead of virgin plastics in production reduces the amount of climate-damaging emissions generated. VANK offers acoustic panels made from post-consumer waste - used PET bottles and chairs made from 50% industrial waste and 50% consumer waste. We also use locally melted aluminium tins to make bases or frames for different sorts of chairs, tables, and acoustic walls. Our portfolio includes biodegradable and annually recycled fabrics based on natural wool or hemp as well as natural zero-waste leather and fabrics made of recycled polyester. All recycled components are 100% recyclable.
