VANK participated for the third time in one of the most important events of the season – the Dutch Design Week, where creativity and innovative design take on a new dimension. The event, held from October 19 to 27, 2024, provided an opportunity to showcase additional acoustic solutions made from biomaterials.
Dutch Design Week: VANK Innovations at the Heart of Industrial Strijp-S.
Dutch Design Week is the largest Dutch festival dedicated to design art, held in the city of innovation – Eindhoven. The VANK brand was showcased at the Isola Design group event in the main area of the event – Strijp-S. The curators of this year's Disclosure exhibition transformed a 300 m² space – the ground floor of the iconic Area 51, the largest indoor skatepark in the Netherlands. Over 40 independent designers and studios presented their work in this vibrant space.
VANK built a mobile pop-up, based on the modular VANK_FLIP wall featuring a new 3D panel made from biomaterials, VANK_BRICKS, developed in collaboration with Maciej Bidermann from Bidermann + Wide and based on VANK's technology. Additionally, the pop-up featured the VANK_CUBE system made from biomaterials, which is effective in both retail and exhibition settings.
In the Strijp-S area, within the main building of Dutch Design Week at Klokgebouw, we were part of the exhibition "We Design Tomorrow," which showcased projects related to the Green Product Awards. We presented the new VANK_FLIP acoustic wall made from biopanels, which won the Green Product Award 2022. Additionally, the modular VANK_CUBE furniture, which received the Green Product Award 2024, was used to display other innovative projects from the Green Future Club portfolio.
Dutch Design Week in Piet Hein Ekk complex: cooperation z Łódź Design Festival
In Eindhoven, VANK also participated as a partner of the Łódź Design Festival and the exhibition Polish Job 2.0. Alongside themes of locality, nostalgia, and innovation, the curators also addressed issues of responsibility and resourcefulness. The Polish Job 2.0 exhibition featured the modular VANK_CUBE system made from biomaterials, arranged as a shelf along with a set of poufs and tables for meetings. This product received the MUST HAVE award from the Łódź Design Festival this year.
Premiere of VANK's circular solutions for the public space
The VANK_FLIP mobile, modular acoustic wall enables effective space zoning and enhances acoustic comfort in open areas. Its unique ability to significantly reduce reverberation time has been scientifically validated through advanced acoustic modeling, thanks to its double-sided design covered with panels. Made from natural biomaterials, the panels eliminate the risk of exposing workers to harmful substances. VANK_FLIP walls positively impact the mental and physical well-being of employees in open spaces. With movable segments, users can control accessibility by opening or closing selected segments, much like a window. This solution is designed with the comfort of neurodiverse individuals in mind.
Simulations conducted with KFB Acoustic on a challenging acoustic office space model (featuring a concrete floor and glass facade) confirmed that VANK_FLIP walls effectively reduce reverberation time and improve acoustic comfort. In various configurations, the reverberation time was successfully shortened from 7.7 seconds to 0.5 seconds.
In addition to VANK_FLIP, we also showcased a new 3D panel made from biomaterials, known as VANK_BRICKS. This panel was developed in collaboration with Maciej Bidermann from Bidermann + Wide architects and is based on VANK's innovative technology. The Poznań-based studio specializes in creating interior architecture that aligns with the principles of future-conscious design, taking into account the needs of both people and the planet.
We encourage design professionals, journalists and enthusiasts to visit us at our next design world events. Together, let's discover the unlimited possibilities of circular design and its impact on our environment.
